In the past 2 days, two of the threads I've posted to have apparently had to be deleted,
and I would like to apologize to the forum for potentially being the cause.

Unfortunately, people disagree at times, and when a forum covers such a serious
topic as this one does, there is bound to be input from those diametrically opposed
to the primary subject. The issue of firearms ownership is a passionate issue among
Americans right now, and even among the best of friends, confrontation over such
hot issues is all but unavoidable. When men are passionate about their beliefs,
a debate can become heated...real fast; but such is not allowed here, and whether
I like it or not, I agreed to the rules.

I've watched threads go on for pages and pages while one side leads the other
down endless "rabbit trails" that are nothing more than red herrings, so I prefer
to cut right to the heart of the matter and skip all the BS in between. Today, someone
posted a classic example of "trolling", and I called them on it. The entire purpose of
the thread starter was to illicit a negative response from another member, and
after so many years on forums I've got little patience for trolls.

Again, my apologies, and I will make every effort to debate more politely in the future.

All kidding aside - I am a NRA Life Member so you know exactly what side of the fence I fall on. A few times I had to back up and just un-subscribe from a thread because it was getting so darn frustrating. Heck, a poor moderator had to jump in and cool things down once.

Gun ownership, etc. are hot button issues right now. My solution now (for me) is when certain member's jump into a thread - I know it is useless to try to change their minds so I just un-subscribe and not return. Hang in there...

It is okay Dizzy, I deleted it, while it was mild compared to some, picture subject was a violation of rules so I deleted it.... Unfortunately I could not delete just the picture or I would have edited a couple words so had to delete entire posts.......

I just use :BangHead: when I start to feel that way..... Mayge this will help...View attachment 808832

Dizzy , although I did'nt see the post which your refering to , I commend you on being a person of good character to apologize for violating the rules . I feel you pain on the baiting & taunting that occurs from some when we post on 2nd Amendment Rights . But , if it helps , try to realize how Patriots like yourself and many others here have faught to preserve the very foundations this country was founded apon . It's far from over , but we're putting up a great fight . Just keep writing your reps in Washington to assure them we're NOT willing to give up our freedoms for safety . For in the end , if we do , we will have neither ......

I know what you mean, arguing for argument's sake, has never made any sense to me. I'm not even like to argue when I have a point to make.:dontknow:

I also commend you for the apology. It is difficult to acknowledge when one has been in the wrong and takes a strong moral character to do so. If you can learn from my experiences then try taking it less as an attack... Even then, I still have my moments.

Dizzy,

While I don't see why you thought you owed us an apology, I appreciate the fact you were a big enough person to step up and post it.
It's obvious from the tone of this post and a couple others, that our thought's, beliefs, and bringing up are ignored and not excepted for what they are......OURS! I have personally gotten to the point where after posting my feelings so many times, one knows where I stand, and attacking my core beliefs will no longer bring a response.

As I've said many times, I have been involved with Second Amendment issues since 1988, when we here in VT. ousted Rep. Peter Smith for sighing on to the first assult weapon bill. He even moved out of the state. You can make a difference, and while it's hard to believe, your Congressman does listen at times, getting them to act is another thing all together.

Keep doing what you are doing, and ignore the other emotional arguments being presented, they only strieve to wear us done with attacks , That's the only way they can argue and point. Good luck, and keep posting, but control your emotions and argue with a level head, you'll come out on top every time.

Thanks to you all for your support and encouragement.

When a thread gets pulled, all of those who had responded to it lose their
replies, and any who wanted to reply no longer have the opportunity. I feel bad
when that happens, not so much for me, but my action took away the chance for
others to make valid points. I'm sure as hell not sorry for applying an appropriate
label, however I simply went too far (again..lol).

(Crispin: In this case, it wasn't so much that I did "wrong", it was more of asking a question
in the wrong way, and applying an appropriate "slang" label to the OP. In doing so that took away the
opportunity for others to appropriately respond to the thread.)

Truth is, a site makes rules over time in order to best maintain some level of civility among
the members. When we agree to join the site we accept all of those rules and agree to
follow them, and although our passions gets the best of us on occasion, I certainly hold
no ill feelings for the mod staff (or anyone) for enforcing those rules on me, or anyone else.

Great group of people on this site, and I'm glad to be a part of it. Thanks again for your
thoughtful responses!
