Found in the yard of a Kansas farm house. Don’t know what it is or why the anchor stamp

It’s one of them things used to hold on tarps or convertible tops and so forth. It’s put through a grommet and the top of it turns to lock it

That's what I was thinking. Also used on belt pouches, back packs, etc.

The anchor, I believe, is a North & Judd trademark, a company that primarily manufactured horse tack, spurs, bits, etc.

Interesting. Thanks for the leads. Haven’t found anything with nautical references out here, it was odd. Horse tack or hardware seems likely.

How about an old purse or pocket book, they had those latch systems as well and I find them alot in the old dumps. Paul:coffee2:

It did come out of a dump area, there’s a strip in the yard where I find old silverware, broken ceramics and glass, and various other items,

I've got an M-1 Garand sling with North and Judd marked hardware.

Quick search reveals:

North and Judd made sling buckles with a small anchor on the clasp. North and Judd was a Connecticut company started in 1832 known for making "Anchor Brand" spurs and other horse tack as well as buckles for the military. They were right downriver from Springfield Armory.

My grandpa had a gun collection including several garands... I’ll have to ask him.
