✅ SOLVED Amethyst?

I recently bought a rock collection somebody was selling on a yardsale site. They didn't have any of the rocks labeled so I have been trying to figure out exactly what they are. I have good guesses but I am no geologist so I want more experienced opinions to confirm them. So expect alot of posts from me im sorry lol tell me to stop if im overloading

There are many ways to identify a mineral (amethyst is not a rock!). This mineral appears to have a slight conchoidal fracture, and looks like it has a greasy and slight vitreous luster. I'm not exactly an expert either, and I don't trust myself on identifying a mineral just by looking at it, but apart from how it looks you can test out its streak colour, and its hardness. Since amethyst is a type of quartz, its streak colour will be white or colourless. You can see it for yourself by scraping the mineral across a streak plate, or a tile. The hardness can be determined by scraping it with objects with a known hardness. If this mineral is amethyst, it will have a hardness of 7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Your finger nail will be about a 2.5, so if you scrape it against quartz, it won't effect it. This is the same with copper pennies (3.5 hardness), and with a steel nail (6.5 hardness). So scrape any or all of these against the mineral, and if it is scratched, it is quartz.

Before I say its amethyst.....I have collected and sold alot of it ...being involved in the rock an gem, lapidary hobby, grinding, polishing,etc. Now all its sold, into Metal Detecting, Florite is softer, and your point end has a covering of hematite, Yes I'd say Amethyst. I have alot of pics an I'll file thro some to try and find some that will look the same.. I live in Amethyst country Creepy Peanut Butter yur right on
