American Aviator Badge, a Button too?

Is this a toy American Aviator badge? Also, I recovered this button from a different site, any information on it? The first two shots are how they looked when they came out of the ground. The last two are after a light cleaning with water, dishsoap and a soft toothbrush .

I found some on the net. American Aviator Toy Wings - pot metal with a gold wash. They said 1940's but I got the impression they were only guessing.

Nice find.
