Heat a needle to red hot and poke it in the piece. If amber, it will go in and you will possibly smell a pine resin smell. If it doesn't go in, it is glass or rock

Thanks for the info.. Learned something new :) ... And yes sir I did exactly as u stated .. Went in and had a pine like smell

Other characteristics are a plastic like feel and being very light in weight when compaired to other stones. Did you find it in Ca?

Cool. Should be more where you found it as it tends to be localized in occurrence and you have a nice size piece there.

Nice find thanks for sharing and good luck finding more. Make sure you check it for insects that may have got stuck inside when it was liquid.
