Hi everyone,
the other day I bought this old seal or medal. It is from the city we are
living in.
At roman times it was called "Tremonia" and the name later derived
in "Dortmund" .
It reads:
"Westfalie * Sigillum * Tremonie * Civitatis"
I only found in Wikipedia original the seal (see Pic) but this is somehow different
in details:
http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php...elAlterMarkt.png&filetimestamp=20061106185633
Therefore it is difficult to determine how old it really is.
It could be 19th century or 300 years old - Only God knows how old !
It measures 8 cm (aprox. 3 inches) in diameter and only 2 mm thick.
I observe there is the german cross at the upper side. This cross goes back to the
middle ages as well...
