So, to tell About this find, I’m going to tell a backstory.

Many years ago, I bought a clarinet at a thrift store. It was $65. For a long time, I have been unable to figure out exactly the model and the maker of the clarinet.

Until now, and I am shocked.

First thing you need to know that the mouthpiece that came with it was a vintage N4 mouthpiece made in France. These are worth $65 on eBay.

Second, this is a buffet evette E 11 clarinet. It was made in west Germany. According to a Wikipedia article, this company did not have their name on the clarinet until after 1985, they also didn’t start using the Evette name until 1980.

This clarinet has just Evette on it, so it was made between 1980 and 1985 according to the information I had.

It is an intermediate level clarinet. No longer made anymore, it has a successor.

The thing that shocked me, is that it’s successor is worth over $1000.

This clarinet that I have is most likely a VALUABLE antique.

Anyway, it was very interesting to figure that out. I just wanted to share with you all.

I decided I’m going to take this clarinet to a specialist and see if I can confirm this information.

Update: A professional Clarinet repair shop got back to me about this Clarinet. I gave them all the details, and they were unable to tell the exact model. However, this Clarinet WAS made in West Germany. They confirmed that. They also told me that the Evette brand was a student to intermediate Clarinet type for the Buffet Clarinet Company.

So, all we know for sure is that it WAS made in West Germany, It’s an Evette, and it’s either a student or intermediate Clarinet. The rest is Unknown.

HOWEVER, These Clarinets still run for quite a bit.

Maybe the Clarinet Case will tell me something. I’ll look into it.

This clarinet that I have is most likely a VALUABLE antique.

You must be young to think anything made in the 1980's is antique! LOL! That was just a few years ago in my mind. Let's call it vintage, okay? Sounds like an amazing find, though.

Actually, I am young. I was only born in 1997.

You’re right, let’s just call it vintage.

I don’t have an update yet, but I’m still working on it.

After further review, and taking it to an expert, and using my own research, I have concluded that this is a pre-1983 student or intermediate level E11 model Evette Clarinet.

No wonder it needs a new padding job, it’s old!

It plays very well, but it needs a new reed, which is pretty cheap.
