AM. BUTTON CO FORWARD WISCONSIN

Found this button in Central Wisconsin, the front has FORWARD at the top, which is the motto of Wis. The reverse has AM. BUTTON CO. NEWARK NJ. Looks like the button dates from 1902-1917. Is this a military button?

Looks very close to a New York City button like the one posted in the photo i found next to an old railroad building... But I am not sure - yours looks little different. ?
