Aluminum tub...age and intended use???

I'm assuming that this tub was either for harvesting produce, or sold as a wash tub. Which, if either, is correct?? Approx. age?? It sits 11" high, and measures 17 1/2" across the top. Just curious...i'm keeping it because it comes in handy at times. Thanks!!!
