Yep. Your detector is built to "see" coins and a nice big and round aluminum (or tin) plate is like Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanza all at once for your detector. It goes by relative conductivity more than metal composition or size.

I figured it was junk metal but thinking its from around WWI since I found a WWI button within 10 feet of it. And them again I could be totally wrong.

Yes tin and aluminum are similar to the electrical conductivity of silver, the ferrous value of tin is opposite to aluminun and silver.

I've noticed that large rusted iron can give a very high reading on my atpro

MY MXT PRO DID THE SAME THING WITH IRON , DROVE ME NUTS AND CAUSED ALOT OF PROBLEMS AT TIMES . MAN I HAD PERK HOLES EVERYWHERE .....
