Altoona Alabama hunting

I'm just curious, has anyone really thought about doing some hunting in Altoona? I have asked my fiancee if she has ever seen anyone with a MD around the area before since she has lived there all her life. She says she hasn't, which I got really excited about. Altoona was heavily attacked by coal mining, some are shut down and some are on private property. I would like to have some advice on what to search for and what types of MDs are really good for this kind of thing. I just started looking up MDs last night trying to get a grasp of it, and I'm pretty much going to do the same tonight. I would like to find the right one to start out with. Also, my fiancee said she would love to do this with me, which shocked me because I thought she may not like it. WOOHOO!

But main question, has anyone on here hunted in this area before?
