At least I found a silver!
I spent a couple of hours on a beach today up the SJ River and the iron was all over the place. It sits across an island that used to have action hundreds of years ago. Unfortunately, I have no permission, nor a boat for that legendary spot.
I was hunting in all metal mode... and trying out some new techniques with my xterra. I started digging up all sorts of iron, in hopes of finding an old cannon ball, but most of the stuff was a bit more modern.
On a lighter note, if I hadn't dug up the junk, I probably wouldn't have found this 1949 quarter on my way back and a destroyed 1929 penny.
Here's a picture of the iron. There was plenty of old pottery and bottle pieces in the area, which keeps me hopeful that there are at least a few more goodies around.
I also found this strange little item. Crotal bell piece? I have no idea...
It has an S on the bottom...
Whilst detecting... Canadian innovation at its finest.
Le Cup Holder.
Happy hunting!
