Wow! Is the short piece sharpened on the end? My first thought was a platform pipe but it doesn't look drilled. Is it?

I'm from Albemarle County and it's tough to say. The area yields an occasional arrowhead but there isn't tons of native American stuff that I found in a childhood running around the fields and hills.. So, it could be the form for a pipe. It definitely has the right shape. It's possibly the head of a cane. But, the stone is pretty soft given the scars in it. The area is rich with history from native American to Rev War to Civi War. A very interesting item.

Been trying hard for two days to figure out what this thing is. It was plowed up on a sandy bottom on the rockfish river next to the wayside. From the 1969 flood I would have thought it would have been washed away but here it is.
