:) Yep, on the ferry and headed to Eielson AFB, Alaska (USAF). We took the Ferry from Bellingham, Wa to Haines Alaska...what a way to travel if you want to relax. It's been almost 4 yrs and we're now headed to New Mexico (Kirtland AFB)...we'll be taking the Ferry back, the same way we came.

I did some gold panning but only found enough to make two small bezel necklaces. I didn't find the nugget I was looking for so I bought one! It was almost 3/4 of an ouce and came out of Nome.

Happy Detecting!

Hi All,
Thanks for the many replies; many changes since my original post (of heading to NM from AK on the ferry)...well, my husband and I enjoyed 15 short months at Kirtland AFB and then received orders back to Eielson AFB in Alaska! We were so very excited! We arrived Oct 06 and in less than 5 months after being back in AK, my husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer, I lost him in Sep 2008. So that is the reason for very few posts during in the past years. I've moved on and I'm back in the MD spirit and STILL in Alaska! I've since purchased a 4" keene dredge and 3 more metal detectors and RETIRED after 24 yrs in the USAF...I'm engaged to a wonderful man who also enjoys treasure hunting and I'm very happy once again!

Happy Hunting!

Pleased to see you back ANG, sorry for your loss but I'm glad you're happy again. I look forward to reading your posts :icon_thumleft:.

We are told "the brakes are NOT our friends"...but it's fun doing donuts on the hard packed -35 ground :help: Where did you work when you were here?
