Hello everybody,
I picked this up in a local Goodwill store today, it was hidden amongst the sports trophies.
Being a space junky in my early years ("70's) the name hit me instantly. Is this the real deal given
to him or something else?

The statue is 11 inches tall, made of metal with the base being plastic. The plaque is engraved and not stamped.
It reads as follows;

To
ALAN B. SHEPARD JR.
from
THE BOY SCOUTS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
for
HIS CONTRIBUTION TO SPACE FLIGHT
JUNE 9, 1962

Let me know what you think, real deal, reproduction or something else?

Thanks to you all!

Back in the day, Shepard was a member of the BSA troop 98 in Derry, NH so it's not hard to believe this was a gift to him from the NH Boy Scouts. Whether or not he actually received it is another issue. To me, it's the 'real deal'.

Check your local newspaper at the library see if they have the issue for that date and see if there's an article about it
