I haven't been out swinging my detector since I found those 6 large cents in one day. Snow and cold weather set in big time. I was talking to someone from the water department the other day and he said the frost is down 18". I was going stir crazy and wanted to go out detecting so I thought about the beaches about an hour away. I have at least a dozen beaches on the north side of LI Sound from NY to CT. I checked the tides the night before and saw there were a number of nice minus tides in the early a.m. I must say I rarely go to the beach with my detector. I woke up and saw it was a balmy 34 degrees with temps supposed to hit 50 and figured it's time to go. I picked out one of the beaches and off I went. Hit the wet sand and after about an hour low and behold, out pops a nice high school ring in 10k. It was a smaller girls ring, but still weighed in at 8 grams. I guess I'm going to be spending more time at the beach.
