In my opinion that is a little to small to make paint but im no expert and no nothing about paint artifacts also in my opinion on that first pic looks like the carving was done not so long ago or atleast isnt as old as the rock.

I surely know its not as old as the rock since rocks are older than dirt ;) i found this rock in a hay field in ohio. This is not a fake. A man that once knew my father told me that this rock could be worth over $500. I hope someone on this site can help since it seems to be the best place information on everything imaginable. What a great site!

Hmmm.... I think it was pressed into paint and then used as a stamp.
Maybe used to mark belongings. WAG

I've looked at it and now here's my advice:

Never eat yellow snow
Be kind to your mother
Clean your teeth twice a day
Look both ways before crossing the road

;D

Its not a paint stone. In my opinion it is just natural. I tell you mother nature does amazing things with stone. water gets trapped in tiny pores of the rock , and freezes thaws. rocks get shifted in the earth, tumbled down creeks, etc., etc. I do a lot of arrowhead hunting in fields, creeks. I have seen rocks that looked like cars, houses, cows, chickens, boots, shoes,me and the kids had a whole collection of face rocks that had holes for eyes and a mouth. I bet i could find a Mona Lisa rock if I tried. To me it just looks like another cool thing mother nature drummed up. JMO . John P.s I think the saying is , People that live in glass houses, Should change their undeware in the basement..... :tongue3:

If you found it in Ohio, The Ohio Historical Society has a good team of archeologists that should be able to identify it for you. They dated a couple of points for me.
