I was able to return the Aggie Class ring to the owner today. Turns out its been lost 23 years. Mikal lives in San Antonio but was in Houston today on business so we met up at a local restaurant.
His wife, who accidentally lost it felt really bad and replaced it a few years ago but he said there is nothing like having the original back. This is a big reason I love this hobby. Being able to return lost items that mean so much to someone.
A few particulars....

Size: 11
Carat Weight: 10K
Weight: 30.4 grams
Who: Mikal H.

Where Found: Cullen Park, Houston, Texas
How Found: Metal Detecting with Garrett Metal Detectors AT Pro
Depth: 2 - 3 inches
VDI: 80
Thought it was: Penny
Why was owner in Cullen Park: Rugby tournament
What I was doing in 1991: Playing Army in Saudi Desert
How Lost: Fell out of pocket while running
Melt Value: $505
Feeling when found: Almost peed my pants!
Time to find and return: 3 Days
Value to owner: Priceless
Ability to return it to owner: Priceless
Yesterday's find of the day...1988 Texas A&M Gold Class Ring.....I think I have already found the owner. Very distinct spelling of his name...I have left a message for him at his office....hopefully he will get back to me. If not, I know where he works which is just 1/2 mile from where I found the ring....Rang up as an 80 on the AT Pro...I thought it was a penny...Imagine my surprise!
