What is the age on this HAMMER? What type of hammer is this?
Wagon they had wagons in the 1940s it looks like a 1940s hammer.
Is it modern new or old found it a little far from a 1942 home a home built in 1942.
Did it have metal handle or wooden handle? Is the handle broken or its like that with wooden handle why is it small?
Is there a makers mark on it?
What type of iron is it?
wrought iron, hand forged iron cast iron? 20210107_130553.webp20210107_130549.webp20210107_131039.webp20210107_131045.webp20210107_131050.webp20210107_131050.webp20210107_132447.webp20210107_132518.webp

Congrats! You found the rock hammer that Andy Dufresne used to tunnel out of Shawshank Prison. :laughing7:

I suppose it could also be a chipping hammer from a blacksmith's shop.

Metal chipping hammer... AKA "welders hammer".

A slag hammer, I think. Welders use to knock the crust off of a weld. That looks like a warn out harrow tooth with a forge welded handle that broke.

My guess it is a tool to do quick repairs to their horse's hooves, as in snow and ice would build up. And I think it is heavy enough to drive a shoe nail. Kept in wagon near driver.

That is called a pick. No redriving nails. They are clinched. When you throw a shoe you just start all over
The frog of a horse also pumps blood back up there legs, back there heart. The frog is on underside of a hoof
