Age on buckle???

A buddy of mine dug this buckle and we are trying to get an I.D. or period on it.We dont know anything about the site it was dug at as we were looking for indicators when he dug it.We are hoping 1850's,but it doesnt have that "feel",to it?Any help is appreciated.

Nice buckle
Seems like an "open laurel" design.. pretty typical of that time frame and earlier..
No makers marks on it? Any other marks? What is it made of? Is it heavy or light metal?

I think it could be mid-century too... it looks like it has that "feel" from looking at it... LOL

The construction is right, and maybe something was attached in the center of the laurel wreath design?

Most likely civilian, stamped, and a man's buckle.

Thanks guys I just got to read this.I doesnt have any other marks and appears to be stamped brass maybe?
