Sweet point and pretty chert. It has a Raccoon notched look about it but good chance it isn't or is called by a different name in Nova Scotia.
Is anybody actually reading his post?

Right?

Hello Romeo-1!

That is a nice salt-water Point! Without the whole base, it’s a little guess work, but I like a possible Dovetail type identification.

That’s an Early Archaic 8000+ years type found in the NE Region. You want to look for beveling on the blade edges and a ground base.

More photos showing details from all sides will be helpful.

Nice find you made there. From what I see in the photos I would second the Raccoon side notched/Meadowood type designation. It looks to be pretty thin and flat in cross section which if so, would be consistent with those types, and my guess would be somewhere around 1000-2000 BC in age.

Please post more photos. The location is very close to the sea coast of Maine. We have a good data-base to draw from for ID there.

-The shape of the point in the photo’s give’s it a broad appearance. But, it is no wider that your finger. Therefore it is a small point.
Is the base ground?
Are the Notches ground?
Are the blade edges beveled?
Does it have a thick or thin cross section?
Is there basil thinning?
Can you identify the material?

These are the things we are trying to identify from a photo.

The Raccoon Notched type is named for distinct angular notching. I’m not in agreement with this designation. BUT it can’t be ruled out. It would be a Rare find on the Northern Coast. Without the pentagonal blade shape or additional details this is a dart throw.

There is a related Type called GODDARD that seems to fit a little better. The Type site is located in the Penobscot Bay, Maine. Mississippian: 1000-800 B. P.

We need to see both sides and additional angles. More Photos Please!
