Detector(s) used
AT PRO
Nothing super, but the lighter was on the surface of a steep embankment falling away from a road. Once the detector beeped I just bent over and picked it up. The cents are '45 and '50, and were each less than an inch in the ground. The lighter reads:
Hahway, US Patent April 2, 1912, Made in Bavaria. The cap also says "Made in Bavaria". It's a little too rough to use, but I quit smoking last year anyway. I also found one clad dime, and that's it for a one hour hunt.

I was thinking the same thing. This town has been hit hard by lots of people with better detectors than mine. My new thing is working woodsy slopes. I need to learn how to hook up a harness or something so I don't break my neck. Last Sunday the slope was too steep for me to climb up while carrying my detector so I had to tread through a creek till I could find a place to get out. The benefit of hill detecting are that not everybody else has been there already. I just ID'd a 1/2 cent I found on a steep slope last month, it was my first.

That old lighter is a very nice collector's item! In a couple of years it will be 100 years old, and with a little TLC would probably still work.
