Hi All,
Poor 'Minty' has been a bit naughty - head butting a few visitors, he's now locked in his own little space - let out only a few times! His little horns are growing well - will get another picture soon.
Our local farmer ploughed (and rolled) that bit of old pasture - I haven't had time to search the whole lot but will give it another going over after its first cut next year.
I found many buttons:
Including this pre-1850s 'Prince Albert's Light Infantry' (13th Regiment Button):
and a few buckles, 1 showing some remains of silver plate:
I was expecting at least 1 hammered after all this ploughing but got these instead, Victoria, George V, George VI and even Elizabeth II showed her face
But could this be the remains of a small Roman coin (only 3 fields away from my 1st 'Antonius Pius' coin find)? Its just under 2cm in diameter, about 3mm thick and weighs 6.6 grams - I can just make out some lettering but what the letters are
Also found a few lead items, Enfield Bullet, Musket Ball, Steelyard weight and Bag Seal:
and this pretty little 4-leaved thing Leaf design, remains of some iron on the back, circular part about 1cm in diameter, 2cm from point to point - any ideas?:
Scattered on the surface were plenty of these pipe fragments:
and other stuff include a pewter 'badge or shield' with 3 2-legged long tailed creatures on it, 2 more 'carpet' rings, etc.
Best wishes,
