Hi All,
Poor 'Minty' has been a bit naughty - head butting a few visitors, he's now locked in his own little space - let out only a few times! His little horns are growing well - will get another picture soon.
Our local farmer ploughed (and rolled) that bit of old pasture - I haven't had time to search the whole lot but will give it another going over after its first cut next year.
I found many buttons:

Including this pre-1850s 'Prince Albert's Light Infantry' (13th Regiment Button):
Button-XIII.jpg

and a few buckles, 1 showing some remains of silver plate:

I was expecting at least 1 hammered after all this ploughing but got these instead, Victoria, George V, George VI and even Elizabeth II showed her face :(

But could this be the remains of a small Roman coin (only 3 fields away from my 1st 'Antonius Pius' coin find)? Its just under 2cm in diameter, about 3mm thick and weighs 6.6 grams - I can just make out some lettering but what the letters are ???

Also found a few lead items, Enfield Bullet, Musket Ball, Steelyard weight and Bag Seal:
Lead.jpg
and this pretty little 4-leaved thing ??? Leaf design, remains of some iron on the back, circular part about 1cm in diameter, 2cm from point to point - any ideas?:

Scattered on the surface were plenty of these pipe fragments:
pipe-fragments.jpg
and other stuff include a pewter 'badge or shield' with 3 2-legged long tailed creatures on it, 2 more 'carpet' rings, etc.

Best wishes,

Have you had any rain where you are?

It would be worth going back after a good soak.

Yes - We've had (and having) quite a bit of rain now, and wind - I will go back to these (its only down the road) but after the new grass has come through and been cut - sometime in 2011.
In the meantime I'll go and film Minty (if he doesn't knock me over) and get him on here later!

It looks Bronze & might be a Roman coin but the stats are a bit off, a 20mm coin should not be over 6g, clearly because its very thick for its size :-\

Plenty of targets, are you still land hunting or have you got enough on your plate?

A bit bigger now - likes to play a bit ruff - knocks people over if they're not ready for him - he goes for the knees! He'll keep popping up in my posts over the next few years - Unless that space in the farmer's freezer is filled (I hope he's joking).

What could it be if not Roman Crusader?.. Were there any old bronze tokens similar to this?
Just been given some new fields to go over, always on the lookout though, trouble is I can't travel too many miles away from home as I'm looking after Mum and need to return quickly at a phone call's notice.

Just a piece of bronze working.
To be 3mm thick it should be closer to 25mm minimum, they do vary a bit, but this would be outside the norm. Doesn't fit any other later or earlier coin type (that I know of)

Nice finds for a short hunt! Congrats and good luck next hunt. Minty is cool, I can hear our cousins mule HeeHawing from most places I hunt near home, LOL. HH, Mike

Looks to be a "2" on your unidentified coin....Is that what you're making out in person? I know sometimes the photos can play tricks over the Net. Great finds :icon_thumleft:

Hi - Can't see a '2' - Can see a 'V' possibly a 'D' and a 'E' - Is that a profile looking to the right?
Perhaps you can make it out better here:
