HI EVERYONE, I HAD A UNEVENTFUL SUMMER AND RIGHT AT THE END OF MY LAST DAYS A VACATION, I FOUND 2 OF MY VERY BEST BUTTONS. I FOUND A GW INAUGURAL CUFF BUTTON AND A MASS REGt BUTTON. THE GW BUTTON IS MUCH SMALLER THAN YOU NORMALLY SEE, ITS ONLY 18MM. I COULDN'T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS STRETCH OF WOODS IN NJ THAT LOOK LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BE A WASTE OF TIME, THEN WOW. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS A GW BUTTON TILL I GOT HOME.
I ADDED SOME PICS OF THE OTHER STUFF I FOUND, I ALSO FOUND 2 8PD CANNONBALLS, BUT I THEY ARE STILL SOAKING IN EVAPORUST.
JUST HAD TO SHARE MY DUMB LUCK WITH YOU ALL

No such thing as dumb luck.

Very nice digs! I agree, no dumb luck. You just tried spots until one worked [very] well! That Mass. Reg. Button is incredible. I've made a lot of educated guesses and have never dug a rev war button. Here's a nice picture of your button. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1506385933.481822.jpg

Also that button looks like flaky pewter. Coat it with a 50/50 solution of elmers glue and water a couple times and let dry. That'll protect it. If not it may flake to pieces.

Killer find again!

Wow, stuff's coming out of the woodwork on this site after a little dry spell. These are both FANTASTIC.

The Washington looks like WI 12F from Albert's book (p. 394)? The 6th Mass Regiment Button of 1781 looks like the 24mm enlisted ranks' version: AM6.e. (Troiani)...

A hearty congrats. I'd like to see the Mass Button go up top, though I know it is over a month old. Hopefully "the powers that be" can be understanding.

Banner!!! I would need a new pair of pants just finding one of them! So many great buttons being posted on this forum in the past week or so!

Also, Did I read you correctly, you also found two 8 pound cannonballs, along with those insanely awesome buttons!?! :notworthy::notworthy::icon_salut:! This sounds like the hunt of a lifetime to me!

BANNER for both. Last Rev War button I dug was back in 1989. They are VERY hard to get. The Mass 6 button was the 1781 model. Numerous were found in NY state and that was a very long time ago.

I really wish I had more dumb luck in the finds dept. You really have all the luck with getting the two great looking buttons. Congratulations!

Sweet! Really nice buttons, great saves

petroguy, First, in a state the size of New Jersey, you have found a REALLY great spot, we all know you'll be going back a few more times, and I really hope those kind of finds keep going for you, really special. 2nd, if you were using the 705, what KHz coil did you have on. Again, nice, nice, and very nice.

Wow! Rev war and GW in one hunt. Congrats. I'll put a banner vote in !

Congrats on a couple of very nice buttons, and the rests of your finds. Would you mind sending some of your "dumb luck" out to me ?

Awesome finds, pound that spot :occasion14:

Awesome finds. Either one is banner worthy but I'd like to see that 6th Mass up on top! Thanks for sharing.
