After (2hrs) in the rain to get 'em...

I'll just call 'em relics,,, ;D

Hello all,,,
I went back to the woods where I found the bottle dump a while back. Dug around it for a few, with no luck of finding any whole bottles, then started detecting the wooded area itself. The area is only about 100x300yds. I almost got lost. :) Na, but I did have to bob, weave, zig, and zag to back out of there after the rain picked up... The pic below show what most of the area looks like. The trees pretty much keep the under growth down, so you can swing the coil fairly well between the trees and all the bushes...

First item found was an old cast iron lamp base about 6" in diameter. I figured, I'd clean it up and maybe re-use it for something. Also found a few old shotgun shells, and an old deer slug, I think?

The last item is the most interesting to me. It's a bolt-lever for an old rifle? It measures right at 7" in length, and about 15/16" wide. There are also wood screws protruding through the bottom of it. Any gun guys out here possibly give me an ID on it, I would greatly appreciate it...

I didn't dig one coin, but I'll still be going back sometime. I know there's at least one goodie for me in there somewhere... ;D Just the fact that the area is out of the way, and doesn't look like anyones been back in there in a long time, makes it very interesting to me...I know the post is a little long for no better than the finds are, but hey, it's Sunday, and I'm not detecting, so I'm bored.. :)
Good luck all, & Happy hunting~

Definitely a bolt from a rifle but by the looks of it I would say a toy or training rifle. Looks light weight and that sight appears to be part of the same piece of metal.

Sorry but im pretty sure its the bolt out of a toy gun but still a neat find.

Thanks guys...

I was thinking the same thing earlier. Not sure why I didn't state that in the post. It does seem too light weight to be for a real riffle, but yet it does weigh quite a bit to be for a toy too. The handle on the end is made very well, while the rest of it seem to be light gage steel. That may tell someone, not me, about the age of it. I don't think they make em like this these days...
Have a good day, Leon...

Getting out in the wilderness for any amount of time is great. It doesn't matter what you find. Thanks for the post.

Its from an old toy, that would explain the quality and weight. Great find none the least, you may find the rest on your next outing.

Great hunting Leon, the woods are always a difficult hunt for me. Tough to find may good targets, hard to make good swings and a lot of times there are tons of roots when you do find something to dig. The upside is there could be some great finds in the woods,HH...Shoot
