Hey guys picked this up awhile ago for $100. I now want to get rid of it but I'm unsure if I should scrap it. W/o the movement it weighs 16grams of 14k. The band next to the case has been repaired and is quite sharp, the dial is in bad shape, doesn't run at all, overall not great condition. However, I know the brand is quite reputable Baume Mercier.... but I don't know if it'd sell on eBay for much more than scrap... Would it even be worth it? i have a place next to my house who'd give me $300 cash for it, should I take it?

I'd take a picture of it stripped and put it on the scale to prove the clean gold weight and provide the condition of the watch and list it on ebay. I had a ladies 14k case & band Tissot about the same size as that one and titled it something like "14K Ladies WW 16 grams not scrap" and it went nicely over the actual gold value. A scrap buyer could only pay you less then scrap. Last month I put up 16.4 grams of clean 14k gold pieces on 3 different listings on ebay and that 16.4 grams sold for a little over $450.00 all together. That's better then spot. The watch should sell for way over spot with ease being a B.M. brand. I think that's the brand of watch Jackie Kennedy was said to wear?

Well...
First research the value "as is"...
If not really sellingor pulling the right money... then there is the next choice.

Remove movement... and sell it separately... then scrap.

I will tell you this... womens SMALL watches sales / desire IS down.

3x time what you paid for it from the place next door, you want to get rid of it, I myself would take the fast money but that is what I would do. Fast nickel vs a slow dime.

If it is truly 14K and you said it is 16 grams. Today that gold is worth $362.94 (I never believe what is stamped)
If you have a business ARA in Dallas will pay you $356
They will not accept gold from just anybody.

Like Beans said,I would have already sold it for the fast, easy money! Good Luck!

I've been told different... I have emails from ara saying they accept gold from anyone... But the 5% more than the 93% I normally get barely covers the shipping...

Thanks guys! Scrapped it for $310 cash, feels good to triple my investment w/o the hassle of trying to sell online! Also kept the dial and movement

if your not in a hurry see what it will cost to repair the watch...in working order it would be worth just a tad over 1000.00

Maybe, except they aren't popular, looking at sold listings on eBay barely any of them sell and when they do its under or a little over scrap, if this was a men's watch I'd never get rid of it, I took it to a reputable watch place earlier and they said in this condition i could maybe get $600 out of it after fixing it up for $200+ but it might take a couple months to sell.

you did good, now go look for the next smoking deal
