In clear ground a two-box will work better than a regular MD with a 15 inch coil, but mostly they are for targets one gallon size or larger. I had one and was not impressed with how it worked here. The problem comes when you get into bad ground. A pulse induction unit (PI) will work much better than any VLF unit in mineralized ground and around common hot rocks. In clear ground there won't be as big a difference unless you use a one or two meter coil.

TimC (AL),

Ya, we need to know what you are looking for and what part of the country you are in. Are you an experienced detectorist? Joe

I've been detecting since the 80's and I live in north Alabama where the soil can run from moderate to heavy mineralization.
