s.e. Minnesota’s driftless area

All Treasure Hunting
Spent my afternoon in the field that keeps on giving.
In search of a platform pipe, missing its bowl.
This field hasn’t been plowed yet, this year. Lots of bean stubble to deal with.
No pipe, but did find a nice adena, a end scraper and a half. And a base of a Madison.

Doesn’t get any better unless that’s turkey blood stain. That inclusion didn’t stack, I can see it on other side too.
I vote banner.

Stop already...you're making us feel bad :-) Awesome find!

Question, is it true the Indians around here didn't go up on the flats (like around Highland, Bratsberg, Arendahl, Blackhammer etc,) but stayed down in the valleys? That's what i've heard that walking the fields up on top of the bluffs doesn't yield anything?

I mainly search the valley’s, it’s a whole different game on the ridge tops. They camped up there just as well. Artifacts and campsites are also on the ridge tops, along with most burial mounds I see. I believe they traveled the ravines, that’s the place to look. I have never found a paleo piece yet, but if it is to be found, it will be on the ridge tops.

Growing up, i used to live down in the Valley near Yucatan and later Lanesboro. I now live up by Lewiston, so i wasn't sure if it was even worth walking the fields up here where it's relatively flat.
