So I got out for about an hour after work today. Stepped out of the car and went to the area where the three Barber Dimes came out the past two hunts. Second hit was a 21 on the Nox 800. Thought I had a penny. Dug the plug and ran the Knox over the plug and again got 21-22. Was settled I had a penny in the plug but when the pinpointer hit the spot, out popped this!

1847 Seated Half dime.

The large amount of rain we have had here is unmasking these beauties that we have missed over the past year.

HH!

That is an Incredible find. Very good details. Congrats! :occasion14:

Fantastic man! That is a stunning coin. Congrats and let's hope you keep finding more!

Thanks! I hope we find more as well! The coins keep coming. I said I would post a pic of some of the finds out of this permission. Here is some of the best finds and a box of “other” stuff that have popped out since last April.

A lot of Dimes and Half dimes, V Nickels and Shield Nickels and a surprise LC. A few nice buckles, several CW bullets, round balls, a rosette, a few good buttons and a lot of rivets lol. We have hunted this site for almost a year now and the past two weeks have been fantastic after the torrential rains we have had. I will be out there tomorrow afternoon for a few hours now that the time changed. Hope to add to the post!

That's right where my 3 half dimes were reading the last few weeks. Same range as an aluminum 40oz beer cap, but a much smaller signal area. Good finds!

Excellent find! The half dime has the same TID as a new penny on both my Equinox and XP Deus. If the tone and TID are clean and repeatable; dig!

SEATED..... on my couch.... with my computer... reading this post about a Seated!! I love the Seated coins. One of the better US coin designs if you ask me. Congrats! :occasion14:

Yep, they sound just like pennies. I think maybe the size and the 10% copper?

I totally agree. They are amazing looking coins. And by far the best high when you see the reverse with one dime and flip it to see Lady Liberty sitting there!

Another beautiful half-dime, MCollett. Almost banner in my book.

Thank you Tuberale. I would definitely think it would be banner worthy if it were one year older. The 1846 Seated Liberty Half Dime had a mintage of only 27,000 and a PCGS 55 grade value of $16,000! But, the 1847 had a mintage of 1,274,000! Always the bridesmaid.....UGH!
