Some finds from back in town, which I didnt feel like going through yesterday. This place turned out to be much larger than I expected, and you can see where some others were bottle digging all over the place. Kind of cool that there is still some interesting stuff here to find, since my grandparents went bottle digging a lot here 50 years ago. I have a ton of their old bottles my grandfather left behind, probably some from the very same holes I was seeing.

Anyway. Found 5 more clay marbles washing up from the dump (The 4 you see next to the ruler, and one more that got mixed in with the rest Ive found there.) and two more metal jacks. Does anyone know when these were invented? Also a black glass gem thingy, that fancy round handle thing that says "Rexall" or something like that, a few buttons, including that little one with a shank, which I would like to know more about. I found another one like it in an old US Cavalry campsite a while back. Underwear maybe?

There is also that RR car seal bead thing and a piece of the seal (The long rusty thing), which says "US Customs In Bond Columbus" followed by "A-" and a bunch of random numbers and letters. Could this thing have been from Columbus, New Mexico? Columbus isnt too far to the east of here and since its pretty much on the Mexican border, it has an old US Customs house there. What do you all think?

Last but not least, two more date nails, including a rough but easy to read (in person) 1916 and a better 1917, which is a first for me. Thanks for looking.

Some more of my Railroad Date Nails. I was always hoping to find a nail from each of the WW1 years, and the 1917 was the last. Here they are. The nails with the small heads are difficult to find in even half decent condition. So I think I got lucky with these.

Very nice!

Great finds per usual Old Pueblo!!! :icon_thumright: The item that says "Rexall" is an old bottle stopper and it still has some of the cork left in it. It probably came from one of the old, Rexall Drug Stores. Jacks is one of the oldest, known games played world wide. I loved playing with them! Jacks | National Toy Hall of Fame

Thank you. I think theyre probably mid 20th century or so. Not very old or anything, just wondering. I used to play with them and marbles when I was a kid. But nowadays they are like ancient history. Video games and so forth have put an end to them, like so many other things.

Cool finds, love those clay marbles

LOVE those clay marbles! Anything that someone took the time to create is WAY cooler than a machine punching it out. Great finds. Those metal jacks are too cool as well. I remember playing with those in the 60's growing up. Cools finds. Love your SW posts mate.:headbang:
