I'm guessing this is a piece of a farming implement or the like. But I really have no clue. This was found in my top secret civil war camp/skirmish site along with lots of trash(as always) and 2 minie balls. One dropped, one dead on high impact minie ball. The grid in the pics shows the size. It's quite heavy and solid as can be. The "sharp" edge of the "tooth" is not really sharp, just a dull edge. I can only imagine it was a tooth for a something this thing that tore up ground... but it's not like any other plow pieces etc I've found. It obviously served a specific purpose, I hope someone knows what it was, lol. Found Quite far off the road and trail too in this spot. On a hill in the back country of the mountains. It fits so comfortably in hand, it almost seems as if maybe it was a hand tool of some sort. Any ideas are appreciated. We know basically what we have with the minie balls, we find them every time we hunt this spot. The base on this one is unique though compared to the others we've found. As well as several buttons and other relics on prior trips. I obviously am not thinking THISiron "thing is a civil war relic, just curious what this iron "shark's tooth" is? I know the "what is it " forum may be the place to post... but I've realized the posts seem to get more attention here. I also am posting my most recent finds any time I post... so I just go with "today's finds". I appreciate any replies! Stay safe and happy hunting ! 20200531_194105.jpg20200531_194117.jpg20200531_194125.jpg20200531_194134.jpg20200531_194144.jpg20200531_194148.jpg20200531_194155.jpg20200531_194204.jpg20200531_194232.jpg20200531_194239.jpg20200531_194254.jpg received_589314238369355.jpegreceived_280719683285464.jpegreceived_714741779335243.jpegreceived_2515484215219813.jpeg

I agree with HCW, more than likely part of a tow-behind plow.

You might want to consider posting it here as well... What Is It?

Good show on the Minie balls!

I going not sure about it being from a farm implement as I have dug enough iron from fields/homesteads, and never came across one looking like your piece.
Though I might add my thought of what it could be from is an early ting off the log peavey.

What you found IMO... is not from a plow.

It is IMO... a "ripper tooth".

From a quick search and without looking for an exact match...

Here is a large version...

All great ideas guys! I WISH it was an iron velociraptor claw lol! I thought the back end looked as though it had been hammered on as with a wedge or axe etc. I too have dug more than my share of farm equipment and havent seen anything like this YET! I can see logging tool or something dealing with firewood etc. Does anybody have any idea what age range i could put on this? Could this possibly be from the civil war camp we know we are on in this area? I had figured no way, but maybe its along the right timeline? I appreciate all comments! Thanks for the support everybody!

Cool finds! Looks like a farm blade of some sort! :occasion14:

Close TicNDig.... but no cigar. :P
