Hi all and thanks for the welcome. As for the law regarding md'ing in Ireland, officially yes it is against the law, it's not really actively enforced unless of course you are on or near a heritage site which in that case you will be arrested. I think they turn a blind eye to a hobbyist on a beach or town park. But officially it's illegal just to own one unless you're an archaeologist. But hey, I think with some responsible and respectful hobbyist detecting hopefully they'll see we are not all about ruining historical sites and that we can contribute positively towards discovering and sharing Ireland's history.
