Detector(s) used
coinstrike, tigershark, ace250, OLD radioshack
got my ace250 today in the mail. seems well made. i was impressed with how solid the coil felt in my hand. it felt like a large hockey puck! looks like its a good value for the money. i watched the included dvd and will be hitting the museum's (where i work) parking lot in about an hour or so. will follow up on what i find!

update...
so i went out in the parking lot for about 45 minutes and found a buck in change along with some can slaw and bottle caps. detector seems fairly easy to use. did miss-ID some pennies as dimes. depth feature was pretty close on coins. called a few large aluminum soda screw caps pennies. considering i just pulled the thing out of the box and i dug more coins than trash, i think its doing pretty good.

its not as accurate as my coinstrike on target ID but heck, its just over 1/3 the price and a joy to use since its soo light. it uses AA batteries which i wish my coinstrike would use instead of expensive 9 volt batteries. audio is pretty loud so you can get by without headphones if you dont mind the rest of the world knowing whats going on.

will add more as i put a few more hours on it.

Re: ACE250 first impressions

It's definately well made............it feels like a quality little machine. Most importantly, it works excellent. You'll be doing great with it. Keep us posted on your finds. Congrats on your new 250.

Re: ACE250 first impressions

Congrats on the Ace...I think you will love it..Not many detectors are any lighter to swing and it is a coin magnet..HH and show us your finds..

Yeah, that audio noise was very annoying when I got my Ace250, so I duct taped 2 layers of inner tube to the speaker. It made a big improvement.

I use my ACE more than the Titan. Maybe because I'm a greenhorn but I hit more with the ACE.
I really don't have a problem with the Titan being my back up either. Some day they both will share that distinction anyway.

well.. i did find something with the ace thats a bummer.. NO VOLUME CONTROL? whats that all about? since its all touch pad controlled, it could have just been a few more lines of programming code to make it happen. glad there's headphones out there with built in volume controls!
