Has anyone tried the ACE 5"X8" DD coil on the ACE 350? If you have, what is your opinion on this setup? I mostly coin hunt in local parks with an ACE 350 and the standard 8.5"X11" DD coil. I was thinking the smaller 5"X8" DD coil would allow me to get closer to fences and equipment, easier pinpointing and lighter to swing. Any chance it would help with identifying bottle caps and screw caps?

I was talkin with CS st Garrett about the 5x8 dd coil on my 250. He said it would be the best idea for hunting in trashy areas to use that coil.

I,ve liked the 5x8, on all your reasons. Digging less caps but still dig them. Time will help but they are round and metal!.

I think this thread will answer your question.

To break it down quickly:
They are both made for and are good on trashy areas.
The sniper coil can get really close to metal equipment and metal fences without falsing.
The 5x8DD can go a little deeper than the sniper and is better for mineralized soil. It can cover a little more area in the same amount of time as the sniper because it is a little bigger.

Here's the difference between the concentric coils(sniper) and the DD coils (5x8DD)

I went with the 5x8DD for trashy areas because it goes a little deeper than the sniper and I don't usually go that close to the equipment when I rarely hunt the tot lots.

You have to pick the one that best matches the places you regularly hunt.
Good luck & happy hunting
