Hi everyone! I've been sharing my finds with a friend in Australia and she's been bitten by the bug! She has a limit on what she can spend though. Can anyone tell me what the 350 has over the 250? Is it worth spending the extra money? If not she can put the money toward her tools. Thanks so much!!

i actually owned both of them and yes i would say it is worth the extra if your doing alot of iron discrim. coil is better, not to say you cant get the coil for the 250 but ive used it on the 250 its better suited for the 350. i noticed that the 350 is better at picked up little targets i.e foil etc. my girlfriend says its pretty good at discrimination and she thinks it reads deeper as well. i would recommend it myself.

Here's the way I look at it: If you find one extra gold ring over the entire life of the detector, then you recover the extra price you paid. That's not to mention the extra features that make it nicer to use. The Ace 350 is the #2 best seller at a big metal detector distributor. (AT Pro is the #1 best seller). Call your dealer and ask them. As Charles Garrett says, you might want to consider spending more money on a detector than you had originally intended.

Thank you both very much! I will pass this on to her. Her husband will only allow her to spend a certain amount. And I have owned the 250 but not the 350 so I wasnt sure which she would be better off with. I really appreciate your time and effort to help!

Garrett has sold tons of the Ace 250 so if she can't afford the 350 then that would be a good second choice. Why don't you sell her your 250 and buy a 350? Or better yet an AT Pro. I've never seen a detector that has gotten so much praise. I guess why that is the #1 best seller. Just a suggestion.

I would be happy to, if I still had it. I sold it to my niece and bought a whites XLT. It was an awesome 1st detector, I just wanted something that would go deeper. thanks for your help! :)

Oh, sorry. For an extra $85 for the 350, I don't understand why anyone would even ask.

The big upgrade from the Ace 250 to the Ace 350 is the DD coil.
The Ace 350 runs on 8.25kHz. (better to detect gold) also has enhanced iron resolution & DD coil. Plus it comes with headphones.
The Ace 250 runs on 6.5kHz with a concentric coil.
Here is why:

I agree with what was said before that for $85 more it is a way better detector. Also if you can afford it go for the 2 coil package. It is cheaper in the long run.( ask me how I know :unhappysmiley:) The added 5x8 DD coil is used for high trash and tight spots like the Sniper coil but with greater ground depth.

Good luck & happy hunting

Wow! Ace, thank you so much! I wasn't sure if 350 was the better detector for the money as there are a whole lot more reviews on the 250..
I thank you so much for your time and effort. You are the best!

Well, unfortunately she isnt in the best situation and the $85 could go toward a pin pointer or a good digger. She said this is the only detector she will ever be able to buy so she wants to make sure she makes the right choice. She isn't in the best of home situations.

No problem, I like to help and pass on the metal detecting knowledge. Most of which was taught to me by others on the forum.

As far as your friend and her tight finances. Tell her to call or email some of our forum sponsors for a price. If the shipping to Austrailia is the problem, I'm sure they have metal detecting forums over there and sponsors on their forum just like us and could get her a better deal.

Great suggestion. She's trying to buy here because things are so much more expensive in Australia. We haven't had much luck finding someone willing to ship to Australia.

I don't know her spending limit but looked on Australian eBay for ya. The prices looked reasonable.

Here ya go these are the best deals I could find her with shipping to AU:
Garrett ACE 350 Metal Detector with FREE Headphones and DVD (we ship as gift) | eBay

Garrett Ace 250 with Pouch, Digger, and Coil Cover ! | eBay

Garrett Ace 250 Metal Detector with 2 Year Garrett Warranty + Free Training DVD | eBay

She could also call Kellyco they claim they are the biggest dealer in U.S. they may have good international shipping prices. They also claim to beat anyone's prices. So it's worth looking in to.
