ACE 250 or Tesoro Silver Umax???? or????

I want to upgrade this spring,,,,somewhere in the two to three hundred $ range. Maybe more if it's a keeper.
I'm not a youngster(cept at heart) so have the patience to learn. Mostly doing coin shooting in parks and yards. Any suggestions??

I have a 250 and a Tesoro Vaquero which is similiar to the silver in some ways. You need to decide if you want or need the TID feature of the ace, or if beep and dig of the silver will work for you. The silver retune faster than the ace,I have found the fast retune on the V much better when hunting trashy areas, target seperation is much improved over the ace. You get lots of visual info on the ace, but the target ID will lie about 25%+ of the time, same goes for the depth meter. I think the pinpoint is better on the V, I don't even use the button, just X the target in disc mode. Once you start using the silver I think you'll discover you can tell a lot about a target by where it drops out when you thumb the disc knob, wether the signal is chopped or broken, how big is the signal area, or how hard(loud) the hits. You really can't go wrong with either machine. They will both find coins and relics, some people claim the silver is better in mineralized soil. The silver has a lifetime warranty. Yes the Silver does handle your high minerals soil faster and better than any Ace. The Ace uses early (dinosaur-style) 1980's phase-shift circuitry and it processes very slowly too.

The Silver (with it's super-fast tank circuitry) works a tad bit better than the Vac too - in Utah, or any other high Fe soil for that matter.

Thanks Digger.....you're right, I bought the silver and really like it. Still learning it but have had no problem using the disc knob to dial in targets.

Ore just get a detector pro pirate and handles land and water real good and cann hunt in rain too!Have an Ace 250 Pirate is better

I have used both the Ace 250 and the Silver Umax and liked the Silver better.My suggestion a Fisher 1236X2 may be another detector to consider.I thought the Fisher was much better.Good Luck Ron
