Hi again everyone!! Headed out to a park built in 1910 this morning. It has been heavily renovated, and is full of fill dirt. Others had warned me about this spot, saying they had never found any goodies. However, I had to see for myself. They were correct.
After about 2 hrs, and with a few bucks in clad in my pocket (but nothing else), I decided to hit the tot lot (I brought both the E-Trac and the Ace today). It netted me a few more bucks in clad, but nothing else.
Took a break for lunch, and, afterwards, decided to make it a tot lot day (I couldn't think of any places to go that haven't had the life pounded out of 'em....pickins are getting REALLY slim here ).
First stop was packed with screaming kids and moms on cell phones. Only stayed about 20 mins (long enough to snag a clad dime and a mem cent). Second spot proved MUCH better. Only one mom and kid here...nice and quiet...after about 20 mins or so, near a piece of playground equipment, at about 2 inches, I got a 50 cent signal on the Ace. Interesting, since I NEVER get 50 cent signals in tot lots (except for falsing). Thinking I had 2 clad quarters plastered together from a pocket spill, or maybe a clad Kennedy half, I decided to dig. Imagine my surprise when up pops a '54d Washington!! My first ever tot lot silver!! As best I can figure, a kid got it in change from a local store and dropped it while playing. This tot lot isn't that old (built in 1970), and is on a corner lot, so I don't think there was an old house or anything on site...
Totals for today: '54d Washington (silver coin no. 11), $8.98 in clad (includes a Sac dollar).
Weird thing is, the Washington and a boatload of clad were found after I had turned the sensitivity DOWN one bar (from 6 to 5) .
Anyway, pics of the Washington are below. I honestly never expected to find a silver coin in a tot lot...
