I"ve had this Ace 250 for a couple of months now and I just love it! I can use higher dollar units and I do, but this thing is just so damned easy to use!! This is just the gold I've found with it since I got it. Theres also 4 diamonds and a ruby in here to.
Gold tends to sound like nickles on this unit, and it has problems in wet gravel.

Oh, man, you're killing me!!! :o I got my Ace 250 delivered last week, but things have prevented me from taking it out....until this afternoon, anyway. Are you using the stock coil that came with it or the larger optional coil??? Also, what settings? What's the depths you've been finding stuff??

Sorry for all the questions, but I've read the manual and been playing with my 250 in the house and on the patio and I'm dying to get it out this afternoon. Hopefully, it'll be as easy to use as the manual and all the posts here say. ;D

Congrats on the finds!

I hear ya Tex. I run 2 to 3 bars short of full power, use all metal and only descrim out iron. Stock coil.
At those settings I have to stay away from big metal [ picinic table legs ect.] about a foot.
I'm finding coins and jewelry at about 8 inches in most soil, some deeper. Old iron cans at over 1 foot deep.
I dont even look at the display unless I'm having trouble finding something. It can give you false signals in some conditions also.
So just dig it all!!!!!!

Dano, thanks for the quick reply and the valuable info. Udaman!

I'm chomping at the bit for today to be over...another 1 hour and 40 minutes and 25 seconds.....but who's counting? 8) I'm still miffed by the time change. By the time I get home, grab the detector and get to where I'm going to hunt, there's only about 1 to 1.5 hours light left. But I DO get to hunt all year round, so I probably shouldn't complain.

Happy Hunting and again, thanks for the quick reply.

Nice haul dano!

I sneak my significant others 250 out on occasion just because it's so easy to use, and picks up on gold & jewelry so well!

Haven't been caught yet but I'll hear it when I do! lol

Nice stuff for a 250. It showes they are really a decent detector for the money.

ive only found 1 gold ring with my ace since ive had it........i dont think i have the gold thing down yet!! i have dug some silver stuff though and it does pretty well for coins. it is a great detector for the cash. if it doesnt go down as a breakthrough classic detector i would be surprised. i have a feeling that years from now people will still remember it!! great finds by the way dano! :o

Hey, mgdigger, how do you run the 9X12 coil? Same settings as above? One came with my Ace 250, but I haven't had a chance to put it on or try it out yet. Any hints/tips would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yep .... IMO opinion, you can not beat the ACE 250 for the price. Word is spreading & it HAS to be the best selling of all detectors offered by Garrett ( or just about anyone else !! ) :o

Only real problems I have noticed so far are with the Pinpoint feature acting like it has a mind of it's own ( sometimes it wants to work properly, some times not ). Also the Ace is not all that great of a performer near Salt Water. :-\

Hey,MS Yankee--Don't forget the free upgradeTo the pinpoint function on that 250.I sent mine in from small town in MO and got it back on the 8th day.Only had to send in the control box.Looks like they replaced a coupla ohm things and recalibrated also sent me a new bolt to connect the coil,it has an easy to turn head on it.Mary at Garrett said only the detectors made before mid-spring needed it but they didn't have the serial #s and you don't know how long whoever you bought from had it in stock.
