Ace 250 Coil Cover

NO CONS

? ?Just PRO

It is Cheaper to Replace a Sliced Coil Cover.

I wore a hole in my second detector and water got inside. It cost me ten times more than a cheap coil cover and they are light weight too. A friend made a resin and applied it to his coil. It heated and ruined the coil so he was out also. Buy a coil cover and use a white silicone to the opening to keep out the black sand.

I slipped a penny inside my brother in laws coil cover and it took him half an hour to figure out something funny was going on. ;D

I also have the Ace 250 and want to buy a coil cover. Kellyco has them for $11.95, but they want $5.00 for shipping which is a little steep for something that doesn't weight much. Just my opinion. I want to try and buy one from a local store instead of mail order. But definitely buy a coil cover, I had one for my older Compass detector and it really saved my coil. I like to scrub the ground when I detect.

I have a coil cover, but it hangs on a hook. Used it once, I noticed dirt and dust accumulated under it so I quit bothering. I just rinse my coil off under the faucet and dry it after each outing.

IMO = Not worth the bother, just another way for the company to make $ (reminds me of a "rain jacket" for the detector...lol Next, someone will invent "lower rod protectors" and sell a million of them to newbies for 2.99 each....

I just remove mine every night & clean it out.

I can get one on ebay for $11.95 with $1.95 for shipping...I may go for it!

I have one for the stock 6x9 coil.....its a must in my area....rocks grow better than grass here. I use small zip ties to hold it on.

I just bought the bigger 12" coil for my Ace. Wish they had a cover for it out.

i made my own out of a piece of flat plastic shield from a grinding mask 2-3 bucks.
trace the coil w/a sharpy. cut it out w/a good pair of scissors.
get a soldering iron or wood burner make your holes or drill em.
put some weep holes . tie wrap securely to coil.
when you get home wash with hose.
it really will protect the coil. and doesnt effect the performance at all.
and easy cleanup after a hard days hunt is a plus.

I'll say again, the GPAA gold show will be in FT Worth Feb 11/12.Besides all the other dealers,Mary Penson of Garrett will be there also to answer all and any questions. If the large coil covers(9x12) are ready by then, she'll have them there.

Thanks for the info. Incidentally, I live about 11 miles from Garrett's factory. I went by there and had them demo the Ace 250 to me before I ordered it on ebay ;D

yah its all good , i am too much of a rebel to pay 20.00 bucks for a piece of plastic.
