Hey guys,

Got my ACE in early February and have used it nearly everyday since. Find tons of clad with it and quite a few wheat pennies, but only two silver coins to this point and both of those were quarters. The first was a pocket spill with a mix of pennies and a dime...couldn't miss that signal. The second was a loner between 4 and 5 inches deep with a very iffy signal. It was bumping quarter so I went ahead and dug it, thankfully. The areas I'm hunting right now are very trashy so I notch out everything before the penny notch and run the sensitivity between 4 and 5 with the stock coil. It has been great for finding clad, but I'm wondering if I'm missing silver with the machine set-up this way? ??? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

maybe try jewelry mode and a sniper coil. thats always worked for me as well as coin mode.
good luck and good hunting

Have found a silver ring in jewlry mode and a small silver chain too.should be pretty good.Gold is were im not sure yet

I know it is hard to justify another coil when money gets tight but the sniper coil will do real well in the trashy spots. Seems like that is the only places I find to hunt..trash everywhere. I have had my sniper coil about 2 yrs now and haven't taken it off since I have had it. I run in all metal so I can hear all the signals..you will be surprised how many coins are being masked by iron that you won't hear if you have it dis. out. If I get a signal that sounds like a coin, I try and get it from another angle. If it hits again, it is usually a good target. Try and dis. out the least you can..You will hear everything but the good ones will sit in between the junk...just like hiding seek. Good luck and HH.

Hi arrowhead883 ,
I also own an ACE and think it is a great machine !
When I hunt a place that has a lot of trash I'll start with a small area and low sensitivity and dig everything. Then I increase the sensitivity and dig everything I missed. Then do the same until I clean out the spot and then move to another section.
The sniper coil is well worth the money.
Good luck and happy hunting !

Thanks guys! Looks like I should start saving for a sniper coil.
I love this machine...I just can't seem to find time to change the oil in the lawn mower so I can mow. ;D

Try increasing your sensitivity until it becomes unstable, then back of a notch. That should give you the best setting and give you a little more depth. It's hard to say if you are missing silver. Most coins are in the 5 inches, and your previous setting should get you silver down to that level. Too often people think that they are missing old coins, when in fact there aren't even any there.

Thanks John. I've tried your suggestion the past two days for a total of about an hour. I've hit this particular area at least 4 out of every 7 days since I got my machine.
Pickings have gotten slim. With the settings you suggested I was able to pull out another memorial, a '54 nickel and a '42 wheat penny. That's the second oldest coin I've pulled from this site. The other was a '39 wheat. Thanks again!

You will not regret investing in a sniper coil [$ 74 ] .all i ever use , makes pinpointing so easy and the less weight is a bonus GO FOR IT
