I did it to a loner car once.

The morning sun was coming up right ahead of highway traffic cresting a rise and when I eventually found the windshield wiper spray stalk I looked up just in time to see the tail-end of a Ford Explorer that had STOPPED in the passing lane (because she couldn't see, either).

BLAMMO!

Airbag city and an accordionated Geo. Bent the Explorer bumper a bit, too. But not much.

I can honestly say that I can unfold and fold a map while driving. I have done it many, many times. I spent 11 years as a service tech making house calls in a 5 county area.
