Was metal detecting on some of the old wagon trails near the appalachian trail when i came across an old camp site (found a layer of burnt wood carbon)broken glass, porcelain jar pieces, a large buckle, i believe an old coin or medallion and this thing. All these things were found under a layer of stone in the clay about 8 inches down.
I rinsed the object in question and the dirt washed right off and no rust is evident. This is so smooth and weighs about an ounce to two at most. It looks and feels like a large child's snake firework after it has burnt and ready to blow in the wind. It is hard enough i can't break any off with my thumb nail but am scared to drop it cause it feels like it will shatter.
Thanks for your help
