I finished off the good area of the field today in about an hour! Got a nice buckle and a few buttons. Then i had
to try and find another good bit in a huge field ???

After a bit of wandering around aimlessly i started finding buttons again so stuck to that area!

I was very relieved to pull out a hammered after a couple of hours!

Also got a completely blank coin with a counterstamp :icon_scratch:

Well definately your first Scottish, any maybe your earliest hammered.

Very difficult from the photo, need some lettering to help. It looks like a right profile to me & could be either of what SS quoted. Could also be an Alexander III (1249-1286). Need it in hand with the book to be sure. (its one of these 3 for sure)

Very nice, Scottish are more valuable than the run of the mill English :icon_thumright:

You need another book:
Coins of Scotland, Ireland & the Islands(Jersey, Guernsey, man & Lundy) - Spink.

That's sweet! I have some family in Croatia. If I can avoid the landmines, I should find something on the first visit.
