AA Batteries

for those who use AA batteries in their detectors, an interesting article:

Yes i say that also ... But i thought that i read that lithium batteries might hurt a detector.......... I could be mistaken though..........

Common conventional batteries (cells) are 1.5 volts. Any detector made that uses commercial batteries will call for these. If you want to play with battery packs or try different rechargeable batteries, just make sure that the voltage of the cell you are using is around 1.5 volts. Many of the newer rechargeable technologies go well over 1.5 v, such as the lithium's which run at 3+ volts....playing with fire.

My copper tops read 1.7 new right out of the box. I have only used Li once to try them out. They also read 1.7. They cost to much to use unless they are rechargeable. There are a couple of new "L" types on the market like Lp. In the future, within next year, the "L" batts will be the ones of choice. The rechargeables will hold their charge for over a year, in storage. They have already taken over my drill usage. Frank
