A52 Sluice set up for recirculation...water distrobution in the flare question

Working on setting up my A52 for recirculation in my garage...when it comes to water distribution, which is the correct way to feed this sluice...water coming in the entire width of the flare, or only the width of the sluice, not the entire width of the flare? In my half-a** drawing you can see that the water would only be fed the actual width of the sluice, not the width of the flare. I have a 4000 gph pump that I can attenuate to any gph I want...

I would run it the entire length of the flare as you will get dirt caught on the outside of the flow and not wash down. Also I would go to a triple tank system to keep the water clean... The drawing is for my trommel but instead of pumping water to the trommel your pumping to the flare of your sluice.

How does one start the water flowing between the tanks using the siphon tubes?
 

Fill all three containers about 3/4 full
Hold the tubes upside down and let them fill with water, keep one end submerged and plug the other end with your thumb, take the plugged end and quickly make the jump to the next container.

Just make sure your tubes are long enough so that they go almost to the bottom of the containers, you don't want to run the risk of getting any air in them during operation.

The larger diameter the tube the better the flow, depending on the volume of water you might need to add a second tube.

You need to be using large diameter pipe so that you do not drain your first tank dry. We use 3" cheap white irrigation pipe from HD. If your using three tanks you will need 4 elbows and 4 pipes. I would not make the pipes so long that your picking up the crap from the bottom of the tanks. Remember its better to oversize the pipes than be undersized. Once you shut your pump down the siphon pipes will balance the water within the tanks then stop flowing between tanks until you start your pump up again. To plug the 3" pipe to start the siphon use a rubber ball from the pet store. Once you have the pipe submerged under water plug one end of the pipe. Quickly place the pipe over the two tanks as seen in the drawing and remove the ball, the flow of water will begin between the two tanks until the water level is balance. Cool trick with the rubber ball AZViper, like most pure genius, it seems obvious once heard but never occurred to me! I'll have to remember that for siphoning in general...learn something new everyday :)
 

What I seem be finding out is that I have more than enough velocity or pressure, but volume is where I feel like I'm lacking. My sluice would really like a greater volume of water, so to try To compensate I'm running at 1/2" drop per foot instead of 1" per foot. When I built my recirc I reduced the 1.5" output flow of the pump down to 1", and then put an inline valve to adjust. I think I need I actually run the whole device with the 1.5" pipe to move a larger volume of water at a lower pressure. Can anyone confirm this volume theory or advise on higher volume lower pressure? Thanks.
