A whats-it from civil war battlefield

Found on Chickamauga battlefield on private property. Was found in same area as a CS belt plate and dropped bullets. There were also pull-tab Budweiser cans and farm equipment bits, too so there is modern contamination there.

It is quite heavy, but I have not weighed it yet. My first thought after unearthing it was is it a possible artillery fuse based on the shape? But I do not know.

I will remove more dirt this evening.

Anyone recognize ?

What is it made of and do you have any pics of it after cleaning?

It looks like a foot off an old tripod leg. There may have been a spike protruding from the hole in the center.

My first thought was that it looks to be made of lead, so maybe a weight from a cuckoo or wall clock.
