I found this item yesterday in my 18th, early 19th century honey hole, near one of the deep foundations,it is fairly heavy for its size, appears to be solid copper or brass, and it was found in a crushed copper( what might have been a cylinder.)there seems to be the remnants of a piece of leather held down by the rivets.its a full piece not broken at all. i've never encountered anything like it before.keep in mind, theres no modern trash at all at this site,no cans, round nails, pull tabs, nothing.
