Merf, these are slot machine tokens. The numbered tokens have always been somewhat of a mystery to token collectors, but the theory I hold to says the number corresponds to an operator's route or perhaps an individual business. This type of slot machine took nickels or quarters and paid out in these tokens. The tokens were supposedly only good at the business, but they tended to travel some. Generally numbered tokens are either 5¢ or 25¢, almost always brass, and either with or without a hole in the center. The numbers range from a single digit to 5 digits.
