I live in Northeast PA, which is probably one of the worst places on Earth to look for gold ... so it's hard to have the "gold bug" here. Regardless I've started hitting the local rivers and creeks to see what they hold (or don't hold). I found a fair amount of black sand and a lot of clay and quartz. At last I found what I think is actual gold, just a tiny speck, but it proves that it exists here. (At first I suspected this was mica or pyrite, since it's quite light, but it's got a consistent high shine and it doesn't crack when pressed... I'm no expert but think it's the real deal.) So take heart... even in gold-poor areas you can still have fun . Plus it's good practice for whenever I get to a better spot. Happy hunting!
