First of all... Happy New Year everyone!!!
These coins were not "finds". They were a Christmas gift from an acquaintance. These are the “leftovers” from his trips abroad. This was the most thoughtful and unexpected present I’ve received this year (possibly of all time). Especially considering I barely know the man! I’m not sure how he found out I enjoy collecting foreign coins but they were very much appreciated... What a sweet person! Thank you Ian!!! 20 countries not too shabby! With my whole collection, I can now buy a pack of gum in 56 countries!
The photos aren't very good. The lighting is pretty bad. I should try scanning them later on. (computer issues)
Question: There are 2 Italian coins with the same design that say L .100 (100 Lire ? ) but they are different sizes. (Roughly the size of an American dime and quarter) Are they the same value/denomination? The small one is dated 1991 and the large one is dated 1979.
*** 2 coins Unknown (1 possible yen?, 1 no clue) Any ideas? I’m pretty sure the one with the hole is a yen since Ian travels to Okinawa often. But I’d like to know what it says and the date.
One of the Spanish pesetas is dated 1966 and features Francisco Franco.
One of the English two pence says New Pence instead of Two Pence. It is dated 1980.
My favorite coin of the bunch? That’s a tough one. I prefer the heavier coins and the ones with unusual designs.
